I have a related issue with bitstreamed audio working fine with VLC but not JRiver.   I suspect that VLC is somehow more tolerant of errors in the files.   I would love it if JRiver offered some advice or tools to analyze problem files and based on that offered some advice on potential fixes.

AFAIK there is no MCWS, core command or command line option to eject a disc from a cd/dvd/bluray disc drive.
There are command line options to playback an audio/dvd/bluray disc, but they seem to be for Windows only as the drive id can only be specified as a drive letter e.g. MC32.exe /AudioCD D: according to the Wiki.

So, AFAIK, I don't think using a linux headless MC server as a 'CD/DVD/bluray player' is currently possible via scripting/JRemote(2)/Panel/MC client.

Searching the forum, it doesn't seem to be a much-requested feature either, most MC users seem to prefer the 'rip, import, then play from library' model.
I personally think it would be useful to have the capability cross-platform to be able to rip and playback CD/DVD/bluray discs on headless MC servers using JRemote or Panel.
I'm still happy to push the eject button on my server optical drive to get the disc back so not too concerned about an eject command.

You have two choices for the 2nd computer.  Both will have identical media filenames:

1) Stand-alone installation pointing to the NAS media (per @JKauff) and using its own local Library.
or
2) Client-server model (per @JimH): the first computer is set up as a network server and the second connects to it as a client.  Both see the NAS media, but the second via MC's built-in remote server control and hence it uses the server's Library.

Each has its pros and cons, according to your requirements.  Note the second computer can switch between these modes by loading the corresponding saved "Library" under Tree > Playing Now > Playing from.

In both cases, the 2nd computer's Tabbed Views are its own.  There are various ways of synchronizing the Views between computers.  See for example the recent discussion (though the thread title is a little misleading):

I'm a big fan of the secure ripping in JRiver.

What do you think is the best CD ripping program?  The ones I know of are DP PowerAmp, Exact Audio Copy, and JRiver.

I think I used to use DP Poweramp and EAC the most before.  I tried to download EAC just now but it seems to come with a lot of extra free trial programs I don't want so will have to think about it.

Does one have advantages over the other?  DP PowerAmp seems to be pretty good but it does not appear to have changed much in the last 15 years.

You can use grouping only in views. Playing now and other playlist you can only sort. So your options there is like zybex described

Drugo,

The previous email answers those questions, please read/translate it carefully.

The screenshot on the previous post shows the sort order, notice the small numbers (1,2,3,4) next to each column. Those show up when you click on them - first on Track#, then on FileType, then Album, ten Artist - the numbers will change as you click on the columns.

Yes, you should keep the SEQ column as that shows you the actual play order, which can be different from the listed order.

To avoid having to sort every time, you should use Playlists and Views.
hi
can i save the preset like your screenshot and set as default ?
but @lepa was talking about group too

Quote
If that is the case you can create new calculated library field with rule [Album Artist (auto)] - [Album] /[[File Type]/] and use that to group your files
in this case , i can group a playlist or smartplaylist and if i send albums from these playlist/smart , will i have separated albums too ?
by the way ,it's very powerful jriver
there is even (in the screenshot)  multiple horizontal columns like  itunes , but i don't know how
i'm reading here https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/View_Schemes
thanks Zybex

On a Windows MC Client, I can change to a different "User" than the Server by clicking View > User > click another User. But on Android remotes (or Panel), there is no control over this. The remote is permanently fixed on the current User of the Server, and cannot be changed.

Can JRiver please figure out how to have this User functionality on remotes  :)

Yeah, I only need ASIO to be exclusive to workaround the audio renderer errors that appear attempting start video playback on YouTube in Chrome while using WASAPI exclusive, for example. I've explored other options but unfortunately I don't think there's any way around it other than ASIO exclusive. Schiit's ASIO worked beautifully this way but unfortunately for me DSD in my library became a thing. :P
