The flickering progress bar at the bottom of the video appeared in some videos (often in Youtube videos).
Now (MC 21.0.54) the bar appears also when MC playing audio files. This is painful to watch.
Where can I turn this off?
MC is not usable that way. >:(
I have tried to record this. I hope you can download or watch it
Painfull Video (https://cloud.gmx.net/ngcloud/external?locale=de&guestToken=sireU9lhSnCS8gEd5oNVIw&loginName=hbonnier@gmx.de)
Edit:
I now have observed the following (in MC 21.0.39 also): First I play a video (Downloaded from Youtube)
e.g. Joe Bonamassa - Just Got Paid (http://https: //www.youtube.com/watch v = wSQwj3s8Y4s?).
When I stop this video, and following playing only audio, that horrible progress bar appears also. If I reboot MC, the progress bar does not appear when I only playing music
-
another discovering:
At the beginning of the video, the lower progress bar is not visible. As soon as I move the upper beam, appears briefly on the lower bar and begins his cruel business
-
Try moving the mouse cursor to the middle of the screen.

Try moving the mouse cursor to the middle of the screen.
This only works with the "Display View" and only with a "click".
Right-click: progress bar appears and starts to flicker. Use is not possible.
Left click: progress bar disappears.
-
I tried to record a log.
The first 2 times during logging the lower progress bar does not appear (In the Playing Now window). In Display View nothing responded .
At the 3rd time the progress bar appeared in (Display View) by clicking and began to flicker. (See log) I hope this helps a bit

I can confirm this bug (it's Linux specific). I noticed it for the first time a few weeks ago but hadn't got around to reporting; whenever I seek (either using the GUI seekbar or the keyboard) the progress bar will continue to flicker indefinitely regardless of mouse position.
A temporary workaround: if you adjust the volume after the progress bar stops flickering, the volume bar will appear and stop the progress bar's flickering (until you seek again, of course).

Also encountered this but can't get it to stop without exiting the program

The video OSD is broken in linux.
Turn it off for now (search for OSD in options).
-
I think I've been having the same problem. The flickering starts when I pause music in "Display View" and won't stop unless I restart MediaCenter. I just updated to 21.0.54 hoping for a fix, not yet, apparently. :(

Anyone have any thoughts on when this will be addressed?

Turn it off for now. It will get addressed eventually.

I, too, have been having the same flickering problem.
I can't seem to find where you disable OSD. Maybe it's right in front of me?
Also, as of today the seek/progress bars stays at "0" regardless of how long the track has been playing.

Thanks!
Turns out the status bar thing was likely a fluke, too.

I've actually seen that sporadically as well.
-
Disable OSD? I hoped this would be fixed by now with OSD and track info during play and features at least approaching the other OS versions.
-
So why am I a "recent member"? I signed up seven months ago. What's going on with Linux development? When I signed up, I could at least look at an album cover and scan forward-back among tracks, now it seizes.
-
I can't help/contribute much here, but the recent member title depends on your post count - as you post more, that member title will change to something else.
Bob did mention the video OSD being broken will get addressed eventually. I'm guessing it's not something that's easy to fix on Linux and will take time to properly address. As for the other issue, I've never experienced anything like that on the Linux version. For me the Linux build is rather stable, even though I'm using MC for audio only currently.
-
Since the OSD is pretty superfluous (duplicating information in the top bar which is visible when the mouse hovers over it) that has put it lower on the priority list.
Also AD is right about the forum user "rating". It doesn't depend on time, it depends on posts...

Still not fixed >:(
It worked when I bought it. I expected some progress. Things have regressed over nearly a year. I think it is reasonable to expect SOME progress. Give us playlists and a library system...something. Video is a joke. I just use VLC.

Regressed? It's certainly more stable. Where do you see a regression?
-
It's regressed because when I bought in to this build, I could view full-screen album artwork, pause, and whatever, no hangups. The interface was limited, but none of the glitches I’ve seen now for a year or more. Now, if I pause or anything, like changing the play point on the time line, the screen starts flashing furiously and all I can do to stop the malfunction is to quit. The revisions of this software show no progress so far, and I see no indication from the developers to address these issues.
The audio quality is quite good. The interface is a POS, and I only say that because it's gone down hill, At this point, I think it is reasonable to at least expect audio playlists or other substantive signs of progress.

When you are seeing the flashing/hanging issues what is your playback state? (playing audio or video, in the display view or standard view).
As far as I know, that OSD at the bottom of the Display view in video has never worked on linux.

The OSD at the bottom used to work fine for me. It broke around the same time the top menu stopped working for me (it never stays down for me anymore, video playback is challenging).

The top menu overlay during video playback on display view doesn't stay hidden?

The opposite; when I move the mouse to the region that would activate it, it appears for a fraction of a second and then vanishes or strobes. I can't interact with it at all.
