Title: video stutter
Post by: Wull on October 15, 2013, 01:08:31 pm
Since re installing W7 I am suffering from a lot of video picture stutter. Having read various posts regrading stuttering it seems it could be a number of things. I've tried disabling my antivirus, loaded the most up to date drivers for my Radeon HD5450, tried just about every setting I can think of but it's still there.

I'm running:
W7 64bit
ASUS M5A78l-M/USB3 motherboard
8GB RAM
AMD FX 8-core processor
Radeon HD5450 graphics

any ideas??? ?

If it was caused by a virus checker you might have to uninstall it.

OK, tried this last night and it did seem better, but I was still suffering from slight stutter and audio drop out.

I'm thinking of replacing the Radeon 5450 with a GeForce GTS450. I can get either a 512mb or 1GB, would the extra 500mb be beneficial for JRiver?

This stuttering appears to be Audio related. When Direct sound is selected there is a lot less stutter than when ASIO or WASAPI is used. If Null Output or Kernel streaming is selected 'so I get no audio', there is no video stuttering.

Think I've worked it out. TrueHD movies converted to m2ts files using DVDFab appear to be the problem. If I then run these through tsMuxer all's good.  :)
