Title: Help a Mac newbie to upgrade MC 22 to 23
Post by: Sassi on July 27, 2017, 09:07:06 am
Please, can someone help me to do this the right way.

I am a Mac newbie so, please bear with me. What are the correct steps to move from MC 22 to 23. How do I uninstall MC 22 from my computer and replace it with 23 so that no unnecessary files are left behind? Also, how can I migrate my media library and all the settings? Do I only need to load my library backup in MC 23 and they migrate. Any additional steps? I also use JRemote on my iPad 2017. I would appreciate a step by step guide.  ? :)

I have MacBook Pro 2016 13" Touch Bar and a master license for MC 23.

Easiest way...

1. In MC 22 go to the File menu > Library > Back Up Library... and save a library backup to somewhere you can find it, like the desktop.

2. In MC 23 go to the File menu > Library > Restore Library... and select the library backup you just did from MC 22.

As for what to do with MC 22 after making sure everything is present in MC 23 it's up to you. You can keep MC 22 around if you might need it in the future, or if you no longer need MC 22 you can go into the Mac Applications folder and drag the Media Center 22 app into the trash bin to remove it.

I found that this process leaves the setting for Library backup pointing to the MC22 location, so you may need to check that.  Also, you'll probably want to copy over any custom skins to the appropriate MC23 subfolder in Library/Application Support.
