Title: Subscribe to Silicondust EPG for $35/year and Setup for MC
Post by: JimH on September 25, 2020, 06:24:14 pm
I had some trouble finding the place to subscribe on their site, but this worked.

Purchase a one year subscription to the EPG

1.  Visit the Silicondust DVR page here:
https://www.silicondust.com/dvr-service/

2.  Scroll down to GET NOW and click on it.

3.  Fill out the form and pay.

You'll get two emails.   One is a receipt and the other is the license AND a link you can click on to install it.

4.  Click on the link ("click here") in the license email and fill out the form.  Javascript must be allowed in your browser.

5.  SD's web page will find your tuner and install the license.

Set up MC to use SD's EPG

1.  In MC, visit the Load EPG option in setup.  It's under Television.

2.  Unselect any other EPG and select Silicondust.  Check the box AND click on the line for Silicondust EPG.  Click OK in the lower right.

3.  The EPG will be downloaded and installed.

Check the box AND click on the line for Silicondust EPG.  Click OK in the lower right.

Check the box, but you do not need to click the line.  Clicking the line selects the item for the purpose of editing or deleting the line.  Use the check box for the purpose of selecting it as one of the methods used for daily EPG update.

Can I use this EPG if I don't have a silicondust device? I just want a reliable program guide.

You will need to contact SiliconDust about that.  The way it is setup in MC, the EPG is tied to a SiliconDust device.  If they allow you to subscribe without using their device they would need a way to authenticate you.  Furthermore, you will have to use MC's XMLTV epg option, instead of the "SiliconDust" option.
