Title: change /volumes for media file location
Post by: rexp2 on February 17, 2018, 11:15:36 pm
I had an external hard drive failure and restored media files from Time Machine to another external drive.  I now need to repoint JRiver to the new "/volumes", that is, the new drive.  The directory hierarchy below the /volumes level remains the same.   Please advise how this can be accomplished.

Similar to this: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114463.msg791564.html#msg791564

But using Mac functions. As the old drive is gone you should be able to simply rename the new volume to what the old volume name was, I think. Then Time Machine will continue to backup that volume the same as well, as if it was the original, I think. But you could just use the RM&CF function almost as easily.

Thanks.  However, the problem is that the new volume has a different name as it is an existing volume with other data.  I do not know how to fix this.  That is, I need to change the path which is defined by "/volume".

Tools, Library Tools, Rename, Move & Copy Files.

Update database to point to new location (no file rename, move or copy)

Find What: xxx

Replace With: xxx

This worked.  I was overthinking the problem.  Thank you.
