I'm using MC20.0.132 through my DAC (Audinst HUDMX1). MC has always worked well for me with this setup but suddenly, no matter what file format I try to play - .flac, .ape, .wav, .mp3 - I hear "hick-ups" and I've spent hours trying to understand why, trying to tweek DSP. I see that these slight skips correspond to blinking of the indicator LED on my DAC. Note that my music files play fine through the DAC (no blinking indicator light) when I use other software such as VLC Media Player and Audirvana Plus. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions about how to solve this problem with MC20.

You might want to try MC21. It's free to try, so you might as well.

I have a Master License for MC20. How does the "free to try" work?

Just install version 21 and it'll run during the 30-day trial period with no problem.

Try some "safe settings" and see if they help at all:

I did as you advised. With MC21 the files play perfectly. I don't know what was happening with MC20.

Thanks for the input. I'll try the "safe settings" and let you know.

I went to the link you provided and followed the instructions:
Tools > Options > Audio > Audio Device > (Choose your audio device by name. NOT default output)
Tools > Options > Audio > Audio Device > Device Settings:
Open with Exclusive access: Uncheck
Integer mode: Uncheck
Channel Offset: 0
Buffering:
Software: 250mS
Hardware: Hardware Default
Click OK on the various windows until you come back to MC's main window. Close MC and reopen it. Then try playing some music and see (hear) what you get.
Result: The problem has disappeared ! Many thanks !!!
