I am trying the MC 23. I have a huge song library. After successfully importing maybe 20,000+ song files, MC 23 crashed repeatedly when I tried importing the rest. And sometimes it just crashed even I did nothing after starting MC 23. I have Bitdefender. Is it the issue?

I have Bitdefender. Is it the issue?
Could be, yes. ntdll.dll crashes, perhaps?
Might be related: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=112547.0

besides the bitdefender, tell us how you are trying to import the rest.....

It's also possible that Media Center is crashing because of one of the imported files. Can you enable logging and attach the log to a post after Media Center crashes again? You can find information on logging here:
https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging

I'm experiencing the same problem. been using MC since build 14, never had an issue before. Recently built new pc after a major hard drive malfunction and installed MC from library backup. Was initially okay but then started crashing. Runs for a minute or so, then just shuts itself off with no warning.
Uninstalled and started again without the library backup. Stated with a fresh slate and set up a new import. Is initially fine, but then gets to a certain point and crashes out.
Figure it must be a bad file that it is trying to import, or has imported and is now causing it to crash. I recovered the media from the dodgy hard drive, so quite likely that some files have become corrupted. If this if the case, how do I identify the offending file? I've followed your instuctions and downloaded a system log, but it won't let me attach it, as the file is too large!?

The wiki has a topic called Logging. After a crash, take a look at the Previous Log. The problem should be near the bottom. You may see the word "crash".

this is the final entry on the Log:

Are you using TV? Is it set up?
If not, try turning it off in Tools > Options > Features.
-
no, never used it. it's not set up.
-
What's in the log just before the crash?
And the Previous Log:
0866453: 860: General: TopLevelExceptionFilter: Unhandled exception -- program crashing
0866453: 860: General: TopLevelExceptionFilter: Message: 517, wParam: 0, lParam: 41222991

0866453: 860: General: RunProgram: Filename: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 23\JRCrashHandler.exe / Parameters: JRCrashInfo3600
It's only the previous log that matters after a crash.

Bingo!
I ran a log after three successive crashes and each crash happened after importing a track from this album:
0866437: 1644: Import: JRAnalyzer::AddFile: Filename: D:\Music\Cul De Sac\China Gate\04. Doldrums.mpc
I deleted the album and restored to a point before MC had tried importing it. Then started the import again. All good so far. Know what to look out for next time.
Many thanks.
-
Could you send me a copy of the file that causes the crash? I'm matt at jriver.
Thanks!

It was the whole album. It crashed while trying to import each track. After the crash it would pick up where it left off, try to import the next track and crash again. I deleted the folder from my drive, restored to just before the import and set it going again. It imported the rest of the library without issue, so it was just that album causing the problem. The files were Musepack format (MPC). It was the only album I had in that format.
