Title: Export to iTunes and iPhone
Post by: rossp on August 14, 2010, 05:20:59 am
Hi,

I have been using this feature to sync to my iTouch (3G) for a while. So I decided to use it to sync to my wife's iTouch (1G).
The issue is if the 'Replace existing playlists with the same name' is checked all playlists are deleted and replaced by the current one.

Playlists are:

Media Center\Ross iTouch
Media Center\Gail iTouch

I don't think this is right and takes a long time to recreate the playlist.

Also if this is checked then iTunes removes the checked tick box in the music sync tab and you end up syncing nothing and deleting all the music from the iTouch :(

This check box setting is not remembered also.

The other thing I can't get to work is the auto sync to the device. If I check the iTunes Library and one of the two iTouches MC just hangs.

If I can provide any more info or help just shout.

I don't really get your question, so maybe try re-explaining it.

Of course, it is almost 3am and there has been tequila involved, so there you go.

My points are ;-

1) It should not delete all the playlists - just the one with the same name
2) If I check the tick box it should be remembered.
3) Re-creating the playlist will cause itunes to delete all of the music off the iTouch as it sees the playlist as a new one and does not select it in the music tsab by defasult.

this feature is still very rough, seems like forgotten feature  :(.  Im also having problems with overwriting the playlist, just dont work well, Hope J River improves this useful feature to those with iDevices.

I've found that the "replace existing" checkbox deletes and recreates the folder, but if you don't use the "Media Center" folder name (remove it from the playlist name), then it seems to work well.
