Title: Streaming through firewall? What ports are used?
Post by: Mangy Varmit on May 26, 2009, 04:53:39 pm
I'd like to try this, but I need to confirm I can stream while at work.

Pandora and Last.fm stream just fine. However, Napster and Zune Pass don't.

What ports do you require for streaming? Anything other than 80? If so it would be a no-go for me.

Fyi, during my back and forth with Napster tech support, they mentioned they are updating their legacy streaming tech to use just port 80 to avoid this issue.

We use standard WMA licensing for subscription files.  I thought all transactions were on port 80, but I'm not certain.

Sorry we don't have a more concrete answer.

Thanks for the reply.

I wonder why this information isn't more transparent...it is frustrating to get nowhere trying to find this with the Zune Pass software, Napster's client, and now the JRiver client.

Back to Pandora I go...
