Title: Moving tagged photos from one MC12 instance to another
Post by: DadCat on April 16, 2010, 10:16:18 am
I bought MC12 quite a while back, but have never used it much, so I'm still sort of a newbie...

Let's say I tag my large collection of photos on one computer (with MC12). I then want to copy those photos - and the tags - to a second computer (also with MC12 installed).

1) how do I export the tags from one instance of MC12 to the other?

2) to what extent can I change the folder structure in which the tagged photos reside? I assume I would be able to change the drive letter. But could I change the top-level folder name? What about other changes in the folder structure?

I suppose what I'm asking is to what extent I can "edit" the references to the location of the photos (contained in the tags, presumably), when transferring it from one MC12 instance to another?

And does MC14 offer improvements in this area?

Thanks,

DadCat

Just import the photos again on the new machine.  Tags are in the files.

I thought tags - especially tags that I define myself - were stored externally from the files.

Is this not true?
