After upgrading my Mac Mini to Mavericks, MC for Mac doesn't play. I tried upgrading to Version 19.0.122 and it didn't help. Please help. Thanks

I noticed that when I click play, it counts to 1 second and stops.

We'll need more information.
Was MC already installed at the time you did the upgrade? You might need to restore a Library Backup (if all of your files are there, then probably not the Library itself, but the Settings) because the settings may have gotten messed up. I'm thinking your Options > Audio settings and DSP settings got hosed when you upgraded.
Or did you install MC after upgrading? In that case, it might be something else.
MC does certainly work on Mavericks. It isn't that. I'd try restoring a Library Backup made (it makes them automatically) from before you installed Mavericks. When it asks, select to restore only the Settings, not the Library and Playlists item. To see the automatic backups, click the down-arrow next to where you can browse for the path to a specific backup (they automatically fill there).

Yes, MC was installed previously but I installed the new version after installing Mavericks and seeing that it didn't play. I just restored the library settings from a few days ago and it didn't help. When I click play, it says "buffering" for a few seconds, then it counts to 1 second and stops. What else can I try? Thank you.

Update: I tried playing something with iTunes and it doesn't play either, so the problem may be with the operating system and not with MC. Based on your knowledge of OSX, can you think of anything that can be causing this? Are there any settings I should check? Thank you.

Try playing to a different device. Try reinstalling any audio driver. Contact whoever made the audio hardware.

I contacted Apple Tech Support and told them iTunes doesn't play. They had me trash all the contents of Cache folders and iTunes still doesn't sound but I went back to MC and now it plays but only on the computer's internal speakers. Strange because I have Sound output set to Wyred 4 Sound USB DAC.
-
Check the web site for the DAC and make sure you have the driver installed correctly.

That did the trick!!!! Thanks very much. :) :)
BTW, I changed the Audio Device (under Tools, Option) from Core Audio to the Wyred 4 Sound USB (Core Audio). Is this correct?
-
That should do it.

Thank you!!
