Title: Sound device unavailable unless stop button pressed
Post by: themongolian on July 29, 2016, 07:35:48 pm
My sound device is unavailable to other applications eg Mail/firefox unless stop button on MC22 pressed. Pause doesn't release sound device either.

MC has an option to open the sound device for "exclusive access".  I think it might be on by default. To change it:

Tools > Options > Audio > Audio Device > Device Settings > Open device with exclusive access > (uncheck)

Then stop and restart MC.

The option is a little bit hard to find. But it’s not important because it has no effect. Even when the option is unchecked, the sound device is unavailable until the stop button is pressed. And the volume button on my keyboard has no effect too.

Did you stop and restart MC after you made the option change?  This option has always worked for me, but it only takes effect after MC it stopped and restarted.  I just tested it again with MC21.0.91and MC22.0.13 and it worked as expected.
