Title: MC 29 with Win 7 64bit?
Post by: proton32060 on February 21, 2022, 09:28:12 pm
First, will MC 29 still work on Win 7 64 bit and finally how do I change my email JRiver has to a new one?
I am about to cancel the email account but want JRiver to still be able to contact me.
Please: No lectures about Win 7.
I have a Corporate License and an still getting updates for a few more years.
jR 28 is currently working fine with Win 7.

Just to be clear, I really don't need the upgrade.

I have used JRiver for years and updated every other version. Over the last few years I have upgraded every time a new version came out in spite of being happy with what I already had.
In fact, I could go back three versions and still be happy.
I only use it to watch movies and listen to music.
Most of the new features in recent years I had no use for.

I only upgraded because I know JRiver is a small Company and wanted to support them.
If it is still supported in Win 7 I will gladly upgrade just to improve their bottom line.
But to be honest, there isn't really any new feature I would want or need.
As long as they don't get rid of the Bouncing Boxes in the Spectrum Analyzer I will be happy.

Honestly, you're probably better off sticking with MC28 until if/when you're able to move away from Windows 7. I wouldn't expect software developers in general to keep supporting Windows 7 (many of them have already long dropped support for Windows 7), which for all intents and purposes, is a dead OS that Microsoft has basically abandoned (though in your case you're still paying for updates, which IMO is like putting band-aids on a gaping wound) and running it, even though you're still getting updates, is a major security risk.

Assuming MC29 were to run on Windows 7, I'd suspect it'd be considered unsupported at this point, so you'd probably be on your own if you do decide to upgrade and you encounter issues.
