Title: NEW: Amazon Prime Video
Post by: JimH on March 04, 2023, 02:16:47 pm
cncb / Craig has added Amazon Prime Video in the last build (73):

Visit Options > Theater View.

There is a new Prime Video entry in the Add menu for Theater View, Items to Show.

- Press '0' to switch profiles.
- Press '1' to go to the My Stuff page.
- Press '2' to go the Movies category page.
- Press '3' to go the TV category page.

- The play/pause remote button or OK on the player screen will play/pause.  Right/left skips forward/back and up/down controls the volume.  Stop button exits player.

Amazon Prime Instructions
Tools > Options > Theater View

Items to Show > Add
At the bottom of the list is Amazon Prime

NOTE:  This may only work in the U.S. for now.  Please report any problems.  [Edit -- see this thread for Amazon outside the U.S. -- it's working in the UK]  https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,135316.0.html

Requires the Edge Browser control.  MC Options > Tree & View > Browser > Edge
It doesn't require the Edge Browser itself.

That is great, I will check it out tomorrow. Now if we could just get YouTube TV to work, I would be really happy. I could quit using my Roku Box. Thank You all.

Note that this is still in its early stages, so not everything is working.  The first step after you launch Prime Video in Theater View is to log in to your Amazon account (with mouse/keyboard).

It seems to be working in the UK, albeit on the amazon.com site, but I can't get off the amazon page. Escape works with Netflix but I can't find any key press which works with Amazon

The Green Button on an MC Remote does it.  Also try F11 a few times on a keyboard.

I had the same issue as BillT when I tried it last night. I was using my laptop to try it out. I just tried it again and F11 takes you back to the menu page. Other than that Amazon Prime seems to work ok. Thanks, again for adding this great feature.

Does it support surround sound? That's something I'm not getting with the Amazon Prime app used in W10.

If you use WDM, then MC can process the sound from a browser or any other application.  Look at DSP Studio in MC.  Try the Wiki if you need help.

The browser will not support surround from any of these streaming (Amazon or Netflix) services.

JRiver Media Center can take two channel sound from any application and create surround sound.  The wiki should help.

That's not the surround mix from the movie/series. This is dissappointing. Who wants to watch a great movie in stereo or pseudo surround when they have a home theater setup? Might as well use the browser here.

I'm pretty sure the Edge browser supports surround sound (DD+) at least for Netflix.  Are you using an HDMI connection from the PC?

I think you're missing something.

Browser sound > WDM in MC, then DSP Studio > Surround sound.

Read "Channels" here:  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php?title=Audio_Setup

As far as I know, Amazon does not offer high quality audio when watching in a browser, nor 4K video.

You still should be able to take 2 channel input and send it to 5.1 out.

I'm getting a "We are experiencing a problem playing this video" error. Did I set it up incorrectly? I have JRiver set to use the Edge browser.

Make sure you've set MC to use Edge.  It's not the same as having the Edge browser.

Tools > Options >Tree & View > Browser.

Hi Jim,
It is set to use the Edge browser in the "Tree View" settings. But the issue continues.

Build 86 will allow you to navigate the top menu with a keyboard/remote.  The number shortcuts are still available.
