Title: GTX 1050 TI and 4K movie playback

is the gtx 1050 good for all 4k movie playback.

I can't be too helpful but my 1060 6GB works fine. The amount of RAM on your card matters and if I remember correctly 4GB is about the minimum you want. I guessing you won't have issues playing UHD material but faster cards are better for upscaling.

Yes it is good but I can't say it has been easy to set up. You have to use the drivers that come with the card and stop Windows updating them. Later drivers don't seems to work on my system. I also had problems with the picture switching to black for a few seconds which I think I have solved with the display refresh rate turned to 59 Hz. I just used the guide on here for setting up madVR codec where you can alter the brightness setting according to the capabilities of your monitor/tv. A PhD in Computer Video Processing would have made it easier (or perhaps just not being 70 years old).
