Title: badger: Television subscription to Criminal Minds issue
Post by: badger on February 07, 2009, 12:05:18 pm
Here's a wierd one.....

I scheduled a recording of "Criminal Minds" on Wednesday at 9pm.  I checked the box to "subscribe by time"... and changed the duration from 59 to 61 minutes.  My "to be recorded" list all of the sudden grew by 7 programs (non of which I scheduled to record..and none related to Criminal Minds).  All 7 were at 8 or 9pm on either of the two channels I had previously scheduled (2 shows, one on each channel). I went back and unchecked the "subscribe by time" button (for Criminal Minds) and the 7 shows disappeared.  I tested this 4 times....2 with build 115 and 2 with build 119.

If I try to cancel recording on any of the unwanted 7 shows.. they all disappear...including the show I want.

I haven't had any luck reproducing this.

Is it still happening?  Any other tips?

I think I figured out what's going on.  It appears that if you subscribe by time... and overlap another show by a minute or two, MC will also show the one minute overlap piece of whatever show(s) come before and after the subscribed "time".. for the whole week.  So sometimes it will add up to 14 unwanted listings in "To Be Recorded".

If the overlap is more than five minutes, it'll show the overlap with a special faded graphic and the tooltip will explain.

But if I schedule Criminal Minds from 7:55 for 70 minutes, I see Gary Unmarried added to the list (last five minutes) but no extras appear.

Are you picking only Wednesday for days?  Are you running in English (locale and translation)?  I'm wondering if the day selection thing is falling down in other languages.

Thanks for the help.

Yes..English. I'm in San Diego (cox EPG)...and I'm picking only one day.  Here's what I'm doing (I don't know how to add the screenshots).

1-I have nothing scheduled ("To be Recorded" is empty)
2-Click on Cable 7.... All Programs.
3-go to 8pm tonight (Friday 13th)
4-Click Dateline NBC (10PM)
5-Click "Record"
6-Click "Subscribe" radio button...next
7-Click "Subscribe based on times" radio button
    Start time: 10pm
Duration: change from 59 min to 61 min.
    Days: Friday
    Channel: Cable 7
click "next"..."finish"..

8-Click "To be Recorded"  It goes from nothing to this (7 shows).  Note some shows don't have times listed, by they are all 10-11pm...all cable 7.

Friday          10pm    Dateline NBC
Saturday                 Law & Order
Sunday          9pm    XIII
Monday        10pm    Medium
Tuesday                  Law & Order Special Victims
Wednesday              Law & Order
Thursday                 ER
