Post by: OopsieDaisy on September 24, 2022, 02:45:07 pm

I'm running MC29 (20220822) / WIN11 home 21H2 / HD HomeRun Prime x 2 with paired cablecards (Comcast)

DLNA boxes checked off; Digital tuners disabled; Channel scan is OK in Prime and MC29; Perc Data EPG downloaded OK

What am I missing?

Have you done the full setup?  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/TV_Setup

MC29 had been working fine for almost a year when suddenly the FXX channels developed the no signal problem.  I deleted, then reinstalled HomeRun Prime, but that was no cure.  I checked and quad rechecked the MC settings: no cure.  Finally I exchanged the cablecards for new ones from Comcast and got them paired today: no cure.

Sometimes station frequencies change.  Try a Google search on the channels that don't work.

Problem: No channel lock/no signal
All channels or just FXX?

I just checked with a secondary, older PC running MC28 (both PCs are on a wired LAN with the HomeRun Primes).  On it, I can watch/record all channels *except* the FXX channels (the change cablecards cause no problems there).

So, on my primary PC, MC29 gets no signal on all channels.
On the secondary PC, previously installed MC28 gets no signal on FXX, but the other channels are OK.

Sometimes station frequencies change.  Try a Google search on the channels that don't work.

It can't be a frequency problem, because the secondary PC gets all channels *except* for FXX and channel delivery is via Comcast cablecard.

on my primary PC, MC29 gets no signal on all channels.
On your primary PC, can you play the channel(s) using the HDHRP windows APP?

Did you try a Google search?

This is an example of what you might find:

I have comcast, my FXXHD CH803 is NOT drm, and plays fine here. You can easily see what channels have DRM by opening a web browser and going to the HDHR IP address, then look for "DRM" next to the channel. Such as:

Now neither primary nor secondary pc's can either watch or record.

I deleted/reinstalled the Prime software.   Prime saw the validated cablecards and scanned for channels and got a channel count = but can see only the
Emergency channel EASD 995 and the CCAST channel 1995 Comcast STB Compatibility channel.

Attached is the Prime Config page, a look new to me.

Hard reboot the tuner by physically unplugging the device's power cord for 3 full minutes. Check things again -  Double check cable card pairing in a web browser (see screenshot). You also can do channel scanning in web browser and install the windows 10 app and do channel scanning in there as well... Still not working, you need to get in touch with Comcast and SiliconDust.

After you have the windows 10 app working, you can try getting MC working.

What is the "windows 10 app" and where do I get it?

OK. Thank you.  I didn't know that was what it was called.  And no change; just the 2 emergency channels showing.  I don't see any way to detect more channels there.

If live tv is playing, click the "X" in the lower right corner. Then look for a GEAR Icon in the top right corner. Then click on "Channels", you can do scanning from there.

Have you checked the cable connection?

Live TV is not playing.  I have cable Internet, but no live TV.  This PC has no TV tuners other than the HomeRun Primes on a wired LAN.  Secondary PC is the same.  An old Acer is the only one with a STB, so that makes live TV available through the Primes - normally. Cable connections are good.

Here are some screen grabs.  Perhaps they will help?

Appears your signal is good and cable card is active. After you open the HDHR windows 10 App  - look for a GEAR Icon in the top right corner. Then click on "Channels", then do channel scan. I would test that on every PC on your network. If you get no channels on every machine, then you should be contacting Comcast and/or SiliconDust for support.

After several calls to Comcast and repeating the same information to several different phone voices, it was found that although the CableCards had been paired successfully, the channel list had not been authorized.  It took two people - one for each HDHomerun Prime - to do that.

Thanks to everyone for your help!
