Title: Import - is there a way to NOT go to Recently Imported?
Post by: AussieBill on June 10, 2009, 12:50:16 am
Hey Folks,

When you import a folder of music, MC13 goes to the Recently Imported view.  What I normally do when importing is to go to
Audio/Disk Location, find the files and clean up the tags, so i need to wait for MC to load the Recently Imported view and navigate back.

Is there a config or way to stop MC going to the Recently Imported view after an import?

thanks!

Bill

I always do the same, think I've asked for this before at some point...(or at least intended to).
There's a way to stop it going to Recently Ripped after ripping, so why not stop it going to Recently Imported after importing?

I don't see anything to prevent this in options. Don't really see the point of forcing people to go to the Last imported view. A option to turn it off would be nice.

What about opening a new tab.  Switch to that new tab, do the import, that new tab will change to the recently imported list.  The other tab where you were looking at audio/disk location will remain the same.

It changes whatever tab you're using when the import finishes (and the point is that you want to be able to start organising the files while it is doing the import), so this is no good unfortunately.

When I don't use the "run auto-import now" command (I have the background importer always disabled) I usually import new files by dragging them to Playing Now. I tag them there and make the import permanent by pressing Ctrl+A and selecting import from the right-click menu. It doesn't "jump" when I do that.

I have a separate zone for this (named "Tag Zone") so that another Playing Now can play music while I work with the new files.

However, I agree with the other posters. "Jumping" could very well be optional.

We could make a lot of things optional, but we won't.

This won't change.  It proved extremely useful in user testing.

This is a fairly complex task.  You have a lot of influence, but in the end, we have to make decisions.  I hope you understand.
