Title: MC19 crashes when doing search through Gizmo
Post by: vibes on March 08, 2014, 12:10:19 pm
Hoping someone can help me out here.  I've been using MC19 for a while now (currently using 19.0.120, but have ran the last 2-3 versions of 19 with the exact same problem), and in the last month I've started having a problem where MC crashes when I do a search through the Gizmo HTTP search interface.  This happens about 95% of the time when I perform a search.  It only seems to not happen when I'm sitting right in front of my computer, right after I've opened MC.  Obviously, this defeats a lot of the purpose of using Gizmo, so it's pretty annoying.  Details on steps I've taken and my setup:

- Uninstalled and reinstalled MC after backing up my library.
- Upgraded twice to latest version of MC.
- Have always been running Webroot antivirus software, so this has never changed.
- No other major hardware/software configuration changes.
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
- OS is installed on the C: drive, which is an SSD, but all media files are played off a USB 3.0 external hard drive.  External hard drive is connected to my PC through a USB 3.0 hub, and always has been, so again, no changes here.
- Audio is being bitstreamed to an exaSound e20 using an ASIO driver.
- No sample rate conversions are being performed.
- No DSP settings enabled.
- Crashes happen regardless of whether or not there are already files playing.

Log file attached.  Thanks for helping.

A similar crash was fixed in a build of MC that will be available soon.  Tomorrow?

You could use an older build of MC until then.

Thanks, Jim.  Upgrading to the newest version didn't work, and since I started to notice the problem around late January / early February, I downgraded to 19.0.74, and this stopped the crashes.  I hope a future update will correct this issue.

Vibes, Just wondering if you had any further luck with this issue?
I too had the same issue and had backed out to .074 but now I have upgraded to v20 and i have the same problem back in v20.  Reproducible in 2 different environments.
Both the environments have MC20 crashing anywhere from 1 -10 searches from the http request (WebGizmo).  Both systems are on 20.0.47.

Before I start a new thread in the v20 forum thought I would see if you had an update.
Cheers!
Wino

I can't reproduce this at all.  I can search my brains out with Gizmo.

Just to be clear I can search fine with Gizmo - just did 10 random searches.

When using WebGizmo (embedded in a webpage) is where I get the crashes.  Its not consistent.  Usually within 10 searches,  haven't been able to notice any other patterns yet.  I.e crashed with and without something playing, crashes in Theater mode or pane view etc.

I can search all day with WebGizmo too.

It is returning results that are a little funny, so I need to look at that.

Fixed in build 48:
Fixed: Searching in WebGizmo for something with only one result would yield no results.
