Currently if MC is set to enable Auto Update Checks, it creates a task that will regularly wake the PC from sleep. => Is there a setting that will avoid the auto wake up, but nevertheless allow Auto Update Checks when the PC is NOT asleep?
-
Clearly, it shouldn't do that. Is it possible something else is waking the machine and then check for updates runs?
-
We don't create a power manager entry on check for updates. So it might be something else?

Hi Matt, the following is an extract from Windows 10 Event Manager, which certainly looks to me as though MC had scheduled a task that requests the computer to wake. Or ??
Log Name: System
...
Description: The system has returned from a low power state.
Sleep Time: 2020-09-06T16:49:08.892454100Z
Wake Time: 2020-09-06T19:17:15.539068200Z
Wake Source: Timer - Windows will execute 'NT TASK\Microsoft\Windows\Media Center\mcupdate_scheduled' scheduled task that requested waking the computer.

That is Windows Media Center.

Ah-Ha. I never even use that application, (obviously your MC is far better), but nevertheless it is auto waking my PC to update itself. Grrr.

You can disable or remove WinMC. Assuming this is Win7, here's one:

Or just disable that task.
