Title: Specify avatar by URL (on Interact Forum) [SOLVED]
Post by: ~OHM~ on June 15, 2017, 04:41:51 am
My original music bar animated gif is no longer working. (used it for at least 3 to 4 years)

have changes been made here to prohibit this?  Any info on this much appreciated.

It's still viable from the website.

thanks

patrick

Do you have the image saved? If so try uploading it to a service like Imgur and using the direct link (Original GIF Link) for the avatar. Also if you don't mind, try posting the avatar image here and I'll experiment on my end. :)

There was some changes lately, a forum software upgrade which brought HTTPS avatar links support along with a image proxy to fix the mixed content warnings after the forums switched to HTTPS.

Okay, it worked for me in my test. Try using this as the avatar URL;

<link removed>

The link should work with HTTPS (I tested that specifically) or HTTP. Just in case, Bob might need to double check the member user group permissions for avatars.

I see it now, glad it works again!

If anyone else has any avatar issues, I can probably help. :)

EDIT: Looks like the image proxy isn't working right now.

first off I'm still using your link for my avatar (thanks) then I found your post on 23 forum for this issue, I had just disregarded and marked it read. https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,110574.0.html

Back to the Imgur website all i did was add the s in the address line and I was on the same page *EDIT WELL THIS DID NOT WORK*....I have not tried my uploaded avatar as yet....what they say- if it ain't broke don't fix it....

The image proxy seems to be broken, something for Bob to look into.

For example look here;

https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,110574.0.html

glynor's avatar is broken (as is others' on the forums with the same broken image box - I made sure my browser cache was cleared first before testing).

The URL it's trying to load from (with his avatar) which results in ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fglynor.com%2Fimg%2Favatar.jpg&hash=ada193bf930fd3797b482ab1b6bf93a0
