Title: Watching video with MP3 VBR settings
Post by: bendec on June 28, 2008, 03:21:45 am
I cannot read somme AVI files encoded in DIVX with MP3 VBR settings with the CCCP codec pack. Can somebody tell me how shall I configure the settings? I do not want to use the windows media player by default.
Thanks a lot

Welcome to Interact.

Please try the wiki (link) above and read about DirectShow there.  I believe that it is recommended that you not install DivX software and only use CCCP.

You could also search for DivX here.

MP3 VBR in a AVI file should not be a problem. I have tons of such files.

Could you analyze the files with the GSpot codec information tool and post your results?

You can download it from here: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/index.htm
and here is a small tutorial: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/quick_start.html

In this old screenshot I have analyzed a DivX/MP3 VBR file:

Thanks for all your contributions. In fact I removed the use of the ffdshow codecs in directshow (in fact any codecs) for the avi files and now it works perfectly. I believe that the system is using some codecs by defaults which happen to work. don't ask me why....
