Title: streaming from NAS directly to streaming device DS (Linn Majik)
Post by: peter wijn on July 19, 2017, 03:50:44 am
Hi there,

Have been using JRiver to store and organise my CD's for quite some time now.

The music is on a NAS and the streaming is through a network cabled to a Linn Majik DS, which sounds exceptionally well.

For playing, I have been using Linn software on iPad and iPhone. The DS pulls the files from the NAS. This works well, but is not quite as sophisticated in searching, or rather finding the music, as with the JRiver database, off course.
(An alternative is music streaming software of the NAS, which is able to push the music to the DS, which is a pain for me in finding the desired music.)

However, when using my older version of JRiver for playing, it would load the music to the computer before pumping it to the DS, all through the network, and it stops when the software stops. This is not a workable solution in our home.

Question:
Is JRiver database able at this moment to push, or pull, a series of files from the NAS directly to the DS?
If not, will it possibly be in near future?

thanks,

(great, the spelling checker here :) )

Hi there,

Is this question difficult to answer?
Being non-native and not really experienced in software solutions, it might be formulated strangely?

yours
Peter

JRiver, in general, doesn't run on NAS drives.

You could read about DLNA on our wiki.

If you're interested in a low power server that can be left on 24 hours a day, please take a look at the JRiver Id:
