Trying to watch .tivo files with MC12, the files appear to load and the timer clock starts running but no audio or video. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks! :)

Hi Tim,
I've never tried this, but aren't .tivo files protected against playback? You have to use the TiVo player or something?

I don't think so John, by default it launches Microsoft's Media Player. :)
I might be missing a CODEC however, I'll reinstall and install TiVo Desktop.
Thanks!

Here's a link, and I'll ask Yaobing to help with the direct show part:

googling .tivo files will bring up a ton more info...
The .tivo files are protected, though MC should be able to play them with direct show I think.

Last time I tried a tivo file, someone sent me the file for testing. It did not work on my computer because it was protected. I was asked to enter a password which I did not have ;D
In MC, we do send Tivo files to DirectShow playback engine. You will need proper filters to play them.

Does Windows Media Player play the file correctly?

While MC is playing it, right-click on the video window and choose "DirectShow Filters". What filters are listed?

Whoops. Let me check again. :)

Thanks Tim, if you'd like, you can summarize all this in the wiki at this place:
