Title: Plugin uploaded... now what?
Post by: mattsnuts on June 17, 2003, 06:41:33 pm
All right, so I've uploaded my plugin to the devzone, WritePlaying.zip, the big 20k.

Am I supposed to upload the .mjp file (the MJ Install script) too?

Will it go to the plugin page?

I'm kinda excited... this is my first freeware.

For the curious (from the Help file):

What?
A Media Center plugin for writing the currently playing track to a text file. Note that if you want this information without installing this plugin, you can simply right-click on 'Playing Now' in Media Center, and choose 'Copy Listening To'.

Why?
So that your email sig file tells people what song you're listening to! That's why I wrote it, but maybe you can think of other uses... a web page, etc.

Ah, OK, I geddit.
When you're uploading, the text you put in the 'Actions' section are the actions for your mjp file...

So, when I want to upload a new version of my plugin, should I first delete the old version, or just submit another to overwrite it?

Because when I first submitted it, I hadn't filled the 'Action' field in properly, so it wouldn't install. I deleted it, then uploaded it again but it's yet to appear on the plugins page.

So how long until they appear?

I now realise I have problems with the Action section and my Registry.reg file anyway.

Use Modify, upload over top of old

as soon as you get done uploading it.
