Title: Fields not updating automatically
Post by: pullrich on February 11, 2017, 12:28:26 pm
I use itunes to update song fields (genre, etc.) and they are not being updated in JRiver automatically as I have set the program to do....please advise!

JRiver will update the files (when set to do so) if the change occurs inside MC (meaning you use MC to make the changes). If your making the changes outside of MC (which is what it sounds like your doing) MC may not know a change was made. Try selecting the file and then right click and select "update library from Tags". Or you could reimport the files.

The proper setting to make MC do this is:

Tools > Options > Library & Folders > configure auto import > Tasks > Update for external changes > (checked)

If that's not working, even after RESTARTING MC, then perhaps you are storing your files on a NAS device?  Some NAS devices don't report file change "events" to MC.

It's also VERY much worth considering why you are using ITunes to make metadata changes.  MC's tagging pane is very powerful and rather easy to use.  You should try it.  :)
