Title: MKV Video Sync Raspberry Pi
Post by: whoareyou on May 03, 2023, 09:56:09 am
I'm having issue with video/audio sync with MKVs on my raspberry Pi 4 (1080p).
The PI is connected as a client via access key to a windows 11 machine (server). Video looks great and is very solid, but no matter what I've tried to do, the audio will simply not sync and also seems to drift further and further off base.

These same MKV's audio tracks sync properly when I've connected windows machine to windows machine.

Is this simply a case of the PI not being powerful enough to maintain sync?

Rather than me list what I've tried to resolve this, I'd be grateful if people could just list their suggestions.  That way I will be certain to have not overlooked anything.
Thanks in advance.

Depending on the resolution/complexity of those MKV files, it may just be a tad slow. We are planning to re-visit RPi video performance and see what we can do to tune it for best performance, but it is a very tiny device afterall.

Thanks Hendrik.  Like you said it's a tiny device.
I have some hope for it as the video playback is flawless and it's just this darn sync issue.
I'll keep an eye out for release notes mentioning any performance improvements and give it another shot at that time.
