Title: Can someone please test audio bookmarks on Jremote2 (Android)?
Post by: lightsout on November 16, 2021, 12:25:11 pm
Hey guys sorry that I keep beating this drum. I have had a hard time getting help, according to another thread audio bookmarks are supposed to work
with Jremote2 on Android.

I am unable to get them to work at all from the app. I have done everything I found in the wiki, ie turning on authentication (it was always on), I know that
I have bookmarks working as they work fine with my files tagged as "Audio books" form a windows machine locally and remotely.

I would just love if some kind soul could try them on their own setup with Jremote2 to see if it is me or not.

This is a huge feature for me that without it renders my setup mostly useless, as the major majority of my listening is lectures.

EDIT## I am on MC27 if that matters.

Actually, I don't think bookmarks are supported in JRemote2 yet. Have you tried to see if bookmarks work with video files? Reason I say that is I don't recall seeing anything in the changelog or feature list indicating it does support it yet.

You can view the changelog history of JRemote2 here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,123223.msg853496.html#msg853496

EDIT: Hendrik mentioned here in February that bookmarks support is on the to-do list but as far as I can tell it hasn't been added in and released yet, unless it's video bookmarks only and it wasn't mentioned in the changelog, but I don't think that's the case. The last couple versions of JRemote2 (e.g. the last one from July) were simple hotfix releases fixing things like landscape and the Chromecast crashing issue. Seeing as Hendrik is busy with JRVR these days, it's hard to say when another JRemote2 release adding support for bookmarks is coming. It might be awhile.

Here's where Hendrik mentions bookmarks support: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,124861.msg891451.html#msg891451

Well thats helpful at least.

I was going off of this
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,128179.msg907419.html#msg907419

Which mentions bookmarks, and JimH below stating that they work for both Video and Audio. I use JRiver as audio only so not sure about
the video part.

Do you happen to know any way to use audio bookmarks in JRiver from a phone?

Can someone from JRiver officially comment that this is a feature or not, have to admit I am a little disappointed as a paying customer if this is what is available for support.

A yes or no could really solve this for me.

Thank you very much.

Now I gotta find out where to request features.  ;D

There's probably no need to request it, as Hendrik said back in February it's already on the immediate to-do list, but because he's busy with JRVR these days it's hard to say when another JRemote2 build with bookmarks support is coming.

You might try to cover your bases though and request support for it in MO 4Media too (in its release topic), and see if that bares fruit.

Good idea thanks.
