Title: Please administrators have a look at this...
Post by: 4BYE on October 30, 2006, 05:34:19 am
Hello,

I've written several times a topic to solve this problem but no replies. Then I tried to e-mail some administrators and even KingSparta to help me out: same result.

I get this strange behaviour of some images/buttons because it says "Language: Dutch" in my profile somewhere. I cannot seem to get this go away. When I added another login it worked fine.

This is the location of the "home" button. (see "dutch" in it where it should be "english".)

I feel a bit ignored here and maybe it's because I asked one to dumb question too much ;D or so.

Regards,

Theo

I think it's not that they're ignoring you, it's that they can't solve your problem.  You even said it yourself, if you switch to a different profile in Windows the problem goes away.  Therefore, the problem is not with the web site, it's with your computer.  You need to fix the issue on your computer.

If your language is set wrong (I don't know why that would be causing the issue but anyway), you can fix that in Start --> Control Panel (Classic View) --> Regional and Language Options.  If that doesn't fix it, then I'd recommend delving deeper into why IE would be acting like that (maybe Spyware or some evil program you have installed), or just switch to a different browser which isn't so deeply integrated into Windows (like Firefox or Opera).

No glynor, it's an old forum SW option that is not changeable anymore. For some reason 4BYE's forum profile is still configured to use the "Dutch profile" even the language option does not exist in the currently available user options. 4BYE means that he tried another forum user account by that "another login".

Bob,

If it is difficult to remove the selected language option from 4BYE's user profile, just copy the image files from http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/Themes/classic/images/english/ to http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/Themes/classic/images/dutch/. You may want to create French, German, Spanish etc directories too. It is possible that other users have the same problem even they don't complain.

Hello Alex,

You got it all right here!!

I would guess that it should be possible to manually delete my "language=dutch" part of the profile.

I did change my settings in windows but it's not a thing related on my computer.
I mailed Bob too.

Thanks,

Theo

Please do not use e-mail for support.  Interact is the correct place.

We can't always answer questions.  There are some strange problems on computers sometimes.

It will help if you use a subject that describes the problem.  That way others may help you.

Sorry, Jim. I know you have a lot to do and sometimes can't answer all questions, but this is not 4BYE's personal problem. He has politely asked help a couple of times here at Interact.

This problem is strictly caused by the changed forum software or its configuration on the server side. 4BYE cannot do anything for fixing it.

Please ask Bob to check this out. It should be easy to fix.

Ahhh... Sorry.  I didn't understand.   :-[

Neither did I.  I still don't.  I took a quick look at options and it didn't show.

Please set up a new account.

It looks like Dutch was as Alex said available in a previous version of the forum but didn't make it in the upgrade. You could just create a new profile like Jim said and that would set it back to English. Alternately I just added that language pack...

I noticed that a bunch of language options is available again. That should fix the problem.

Everything is fixed now! I get it in Dutch. Even the last notifications through e-mail came in Dutch. This way I keep my login name.

Alex thanks for your support.

Bob thanks for your help in fixing this.
