looks promising..
will this work with the collectorz program? i have all movies setup through that.. or would i need a different program?
TY
will this work with the collectorz program?
It would be nice if JRiver had a currency format option for related fields.
Yes, it would. The accountant in me can't stand currency symbols, but really wants all numbers to have a '000 separator and be right-aligned.

Just a heads up, the plugin doesn't work with MC14, although there's probably not a lot we can do about that at the moment... when you install it into the MC14 plugin directory it doesn't appear in the plugin manager (and you can't import the *.dll's manually either). Have you locked it to a particular version? Other interface plugins I had installed for 13 were picked up automatically by 14. Looks like I'll be version hopping for a bit! - but I can definitely justify it to use this great plugin.
media center 13.tlbThat's probably the perpetrator.
I didn't have anything prior, just a fresh MC14 install on a fresh Win7 RC install. Once installed the plugin shows a complete black screen where the querries/selections/results/buttons etc were supposed to be. If I click in that black area MC crashes immediately. If I don't do anything, not even going by Services & Plug-ins, MC crashes within 10-15 sec. from start.
The problem is I don't appear to have a "pvd" database file anywhere on my system.
Raldo, this is amazing work! Thanks so much - you've taken MC to the next level for me. I spent about a week playing around with the MC, Excel, PVD combo before stumbling across this plug-in. I'm so happy with it that I'd readily send you a donation.
however neither of those 2 processes that you mentioned are runningYup, that explains it.
okay i did not know that i had to manually associate my .avi and .mkv files with the movies within PVD.So, it seems as if PVD has generated a database and your processes (services) are running. Good.
now that i've done that for a couple, i tried to test it out once more. it seemed like it was going to work (it started processing) but then immediately Media Center caused an unexpected error and shut down.
So, it seems as if PVD has generated a database and your processes (services) are running. Good.
Can you please restart MC and write up exactly what the logger window on the plugin page says?
Also, try one file import while watching the login page. You can, for example, split the right pane in two: one for movies and the other for PvdImport. Do you see any text in the logger window before the crash?
When I restart MC, it just says Plugin Initiated OKOk, that indicates that the PvdImport plugin found and was able to load all the necessary files.

Ok, that indicates that the PvdImport plugin found and was able to load all the necessary files.
But, just to double check: you are able to manage movies in PVD?
And: does your pvd configuration file (found in: C:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Application Data\Personal Video Database\pvdconf.ini) have an Application section that looks similar to mine:Code: [Select][Application]

Warning: use notepad.exe for editing and saving this file! some editors mangle the special characters Nostra used to code some of the settings in this file!
doh, didn't work in either Vista (MC13 or MC 14) or 7 (MC 14). I'm at a dead end :( MC still just dies when I try to test a single file.
Are you an administrator? Is MC run with administrative privileges?
Can you double check the plugin version (Plugin manager/interfaceplugins)?
AND! Back to my question on your pvdconf.ini file: Is the network key still set to 0 (Network=0) ? As far as I understand, this means that PVD doesn't use SQL server but an embedded server. If that's true, then PVD will work but not PvdImport.
You should be able to fix this in PVD by choosing File"Connect to server" and then pointing to the PVD database file.
And last thing on the connect to server thing within PVD... Do I just type in the location on disk? I don't have like a browse for file option to point to my databaseYes, it's the path to the .pvd file .
If you'd send me your PVD database, I'll try it and see if I can provoke the error...
I've now tried your db and it works perfectly on my system. That means that there is no anomaly in the DB which PvdImport cannot handle.
Did you manage to File\"Connect To Server" in PVD?

No joy for my .m2ts files or DVD rips (\dvd name\video_ts\files). Any advice to troubleshoot. All my DVDs and .m2ts(HDs) are now nicely tagged now in PVD.
D:\Video_DVDs\Wrestler\video_ts\VIDEO_TS.dvd;1
PVD does not seem to have this path listed, so I guess that's the problem?
Its really just a one line .txt file that doesn't affect playback. This file matches MCs "filename" tag so PVD picks it up for each DVD and the plugin works great. This plugin is great work! Now ALL my videos can be tagged in MC in a matter of seconds. Thanks!I posted a question on this in the PVD forums regarding this:
I dont seem to be able to import my library.
Hello and thank you so much,
I have now got my movies into PVD.
How do I get the information to MC?
Where is the best place for covers??
Cheers ;)
I have now got my movies into PVD.
When I run PVDImport, it does not find any matches... it imports the DVDs as VIDEO_TS.DVD;1
"V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.IFO|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_0.IFO|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_0.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_1.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_2.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_3.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_4.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_0.IFO|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_0.VOB|V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_1.VOB".
Also I will try set only "V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO" in this field with same resultVery impressive extension, thank u guys very much
upd: and small bug? report..Did you check out the FAQ (Q: The plugin doesn't work, what do I do)? (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=53520.msg364322#msg364322) Similar questions are answered there...
I also can not import info for my DVD (video_ts folders on network drive connected as V:)

Mass Import log for this release - "Processing: V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.dvd;1 .. Could not find file in PVD. Exiting
Test log (if I set "V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO) : Processing: V:\Аниме\Parasite dolls\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO .. Could not find file in MC. Exiting
Did you check out the FAQ (Q: The plugin doesn't work, what do I do)?[/url] Similar questions are answered there...
Do that, please
and then we can check out if it's got something to do with the cyrillic folder name. Do you have .avi files in your Аниме folder?
It's not clear what you mean by this. "DVD;1" is a designation unique to MC, not an actual file. PvdImport matches the actual IFO and VOB files (there can be more than one per video) to the "VIDEO_TS.DVD;1" filename that MC records.
I added the same movies to the PVD. When I execute PVDImport it does not find any matches. I get messages such as "Processing: S:\X-Men\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.dvd;1.. Could not find file in PVD. Exiting."Does "File Path:" in PVD contain "S:\X-Men\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.ifo" ?
So my question was, how am I able to auto-import my dvd library, and have PVDImport match them to the PVD?
how do I check that firebird server is working as expected? I did the File/connect to server/[path to my pvd database] and got no message at all, that is no error message but no confirmation either.
I have also removed pvdimport plugin from MC. By the way, I don't know if this is a problem, but the plugin in MC was in the "interface" plugins menu, not the "input" one, does that make a difference?
The title bar should indicate "([computer name]:[database path] Network)" so you know exactly what is loaded and how. Other than that, if it works, it works
If you didn't before, close MC and uninstall PvdImport using the Windows Add or Remove Programs. Then run the MSI installation package again.I have properly unistalled/re-installed pvdimport yes. Also you are right to assume I am on XP using MC14.
BTW, I'm assuming you're running MC14 on XP.
In computing, the title bar consists of that part of a window where the title of the window appears. Most graphical operating systems and window managers position the title bar at the top of the application window as a horizontal bar.
Do I need to add certain field types to my library before I run PVDImport? For instance, I'd like to see the imdb rating and all the genres in my library. However, when I run the import, this isn't happening.
I have finally got this to work but is there a way of not importing so many actors. Mine seems to be importing the whole cast.
I did not know I had first to modify the pvdimportconfiguration.xml file...
<FieldConfigFileName>D:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 13\Plugins\PvdImport\PvdImportFieldConfig.xml</FieldConfigFileName>
<PvdDatabaseFileName>test.pvd</PvdDatabaseFileName>
<CoverArtFolder>\\Server\Music\Cover Art</CoverArtFolder>
What do you mean by "If so, does the error still happen when you try to change any of those settings from within the plugin?" Can I also edit these settings from the plugin itself in MC?
Yes I'm running MC14, but the plugin config file was using "13" as default and I did not spot that. It's now changed to "14".
I wonder if remnants of your MC13 installation are causing problems. Or maybe you still have MC13 installed. Does your D:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 13\ directory still exist? Have the PvdImport registry entries been properly updated to point to the MC14 directory? Run regedit.exe and search for "PvdImport".
You are correct in that the default *configured* path points to mc13. If PvdImport starts up and doesn't find the file in the default *configured* path, it should look in the path where PvdImport.dll is located.
I have never installed MC13 on my system, this path was actually in the config file, not in my system (since I never had MC13).
Could you check on your side that the config file actually contains this line ? (I have already installed/uninstalled the plugin twice and I think this line was always part of the plugin config file).
Unless I'm missing something of course.
When I open MC, go to the pdvimport plugin, I first see a line at the bottom of the plugin saying "fatal error, failed to load pvd import config file" (followed by another line [...]
And then when I try to load the field config/or to select the pvd database/or set the video test file, I get an .NET Framework Unhandled exception error message.
I have manually corrected the path within the config file but no change.
Thanks, I have just emailed it to you.
I am using XP (SP2 I think).
I have checked I had the latest framework and I have it.
One of my previous questions was that maybe a service needed in Windows for this to work was not running...? I know I have disabled a few windows services a while back to optimize XP. never had a problem with that but I don't know, just a thought, you might know of a service absolutely needed?
And yes I have read/write access to the folder and files.
never had a problem with that but I don't know, just a thought, you might know of a service absolutely needed?I don't know of any services that are absolutely needed for PvdImport to work.
Initialy on using PVDimport I did not reduce the number of actors. Can you split the crashing issue into a new thread, please?
Can someone tell me how to delete some as if you try and do it in MC they are in alphabetical order.
Also has anyone any idea wyh I am having crashing problems with this plugin?
Cheers
I'm back )
after the tests, I understood. If use massimport - file not found in MC. If use the test import - the file is not found in PVD. If import through the Send to - PVD Import - all imported! File is found and all succsess. From the Cyrillic alphabet in the way like not depend - the above is true for M: \ Video \ Music \ VA - WarpVision-The Videos 1989 - 2004 \ VIDEO_TS example. Ok, I will add DVD via send to.
But a new problem - MC crashes after attempts to send to DVD file. But not everyone - only to the film, which has a poster (picture) in the base PVD (determined experimentally;).
Thanks again for making (and more importantly, maintaining) this plugin - you rock! Thanks!
