Title: DVICO Dual Digital 4 Rev.1 & MC13
Post by: imugli on December 17, 2008, 05:11:21 pm
Just wondering if anyone is successfully using this card on MC13, and if so what codecs you have installed?

Mine seems to be working except for 1 (fairly major) issue.

If I start the TV on an SD channel I can only change to other SD channels. If I change to a HD channel I get no sound.

Same if I start on a HD channel then change to and SD channel. Get sound fine on the HD Channel but none on the SD.

It's almost as if the audio codec is not getting changed when I change between transmission standards.

Any feedback, suggestions, comments or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.

I used to get this. Never quite understood if it was an MC bug or a directshow one but the fix for me was to install AC3Filter. This is the only audio codec I've tried that correctly handles the channel changes bwtween SD and HD. No more dropouts!

Thanks Raym, I'll try it out.  :)

Can one of the JRiver boys confirm if this is card related or MC related? I'm thinking card - as I haven't seen this problem posted before - but would love some confirmation...

It could be our bug.  Yaobing may have a better idea.

raym and others in DVB-T land experienced such problems. We in ATSC land have not. I did try every tricks up my sleeves to fix this problem. It may indeed be a decoder problem as raym suggested. When switching between HD and SD channels, audio switch between AC3 and MPEG-2 audio. For ATSC, audio seems to be AC3 in all cases. Let us know if using a different audio decoder does not solve the problem.

Did what Raym suggested - am now using AC3Filter and all is good.

Thanks Raym and JR boys for your help. Love your work!
