Title: "flux". Interesting word.
Post by: marko on July 04, 2006, 03:24:26 am
All this talk of things being "in a state of flux"....

I read the word and immediately think "flux capacitor"

Now, I was sure it was Scotty of the USS Enterprise who was always having trouble with his, but then thought it might actually have been Dr. Who.... so I googled it!!!

DOH! of course it was. Imagine forgetting that!!  ::)

Time travel for $375? (http://www.bfcoulombe.com/flux.html) Cheap at twice the price!

or perhaps you fancy a bit of Flux Theory (http://www.geocities.com/xulfrepus/)
Quote
Flux theory is a complete theory of everything ... including Gravity, The four forces, and a completely new way to understand the way dimensionality actually works. It is based solely on irrefutable logic. And although it is easily understandable by anyone, it requires an open mind and a completely new way of thinking.
After you read Flux theory and realize even though it's a completely new way to look at everything, it will make sense and you'll be able to predict things, for instance why there can only be six Quarks, and the way Electrons will arrange themselves in atomic orbits. It's all here and if you read the whole thing, it ties itself together.

I think the term was first used in the movie Ghost Busters.

When It Was Used To Refer How Messed Up It Was (As Lighting And Huge Storm Clouds Covered The City)

Actually, I'm pretty sure the "flux capicator" was the invention of one Dr. Emmett Brown, of "Back To The Future" fame.
