Title: Introduction offer for MediaCenter
Post by: JeanD on May 13, 2017, 04:58:25 am
Hi, I'm currently running a trial of MediaCenter on Debian Jessie and I'm thinking of buying a license. I've been using the free MediaJukebox for Windows for a long time already and like it very much. Now I received an introduction offer for a license at $15.98 for a license on v22 that will also be valid when I upgrade to v23 when it comes out. The thing is that the offer only talks about Windows and Mac licenses and doesn't mention that this is also applicable for the Linux version of MediaCenter. As a new Linux user I would like to know if I can also make use of this offer. Can I?

You can only upgrade from a paid product, not from a free one.  Sorry.

I understand that upgrading only goes for paid products, but the offer I got in the email also talks about buying your first licensed JRiver MediaCenter v22 by buying a license for v22, which would also give the right for a cost free upgrade to the v23 when it comes out. So, I was talking about such a paid license of $15.98 for JRiver Media Center for Linux (as is mentioned in the offer under 'Get the Best of Both Worlds') and not about the free JRiver MediaJukebox I'm using on Windows at the moment.

Here's the full text of the offer...

Special Pre-order Prices Still Available
JRiver's pre-order upgrade special has been extended for a few days.  You can still take advantage of the best price of the year.  It's $15.98 to upgrade from any previous version of MC, all the way back to Media Center 11!  That's 40% off the regular upgrade price.

You can also upgrade a Windows or Mac license to a Master License which works with both.  That's $22.98 now.

Upgrade Now
To get the special upgrade price, pre-order by May 14:

Direct Link to Windows Upgrade   $15.98

Direct Link to Mac Upgrade     $15.98

Direct Link to Master License Upgrade    $22.98   (works on Windows, Mac, and Linux)

Need to know more?  Please read Upgrade Help .

Get the Best of Both Worlds
You can purchase MC22 now and get our most mature and stable version.  If you have never purchased MC, just download and purchase MC22.  You will receive an MC23 license that works with both versions.  When MC23 is available (this summer), you can just download and install it.  It works with the same License and uses your same data.

It will cost you 50 dollars to buy a license for mc22.
Link to purchase linux version here https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/buy.cgi?productid=79
If you buy mc22 now, then your licence will also be valid for mc23 so there is a zero cost upgrade for you from 22 to 23.
I bought 22 ages ago, so the upgrade offer for 16 dollars to get 23 is valid for me.

It's a MC23 license, but it also works with the latest MC22 builds.

HI again. Thanks for helping me understand the offer. I just bought a Linux license just now and installed it. Itś working fine. Indeed it did say it was a license for MediaCenter v23 and it does work with the MediaCenter v22 I had installed on my machine. As far as Iḿ concerned this topic can be closed. As Iḿ new to this forum, I haven't got a clue if I myself should remove it, or that it will expire by itself somehow. Anyway, thanks again for the quick and effective help.
