Title: Ripping Compilation CD's

I am having problems ripping compilation CD's in the way I require them.
I am able to rip them and they end up as individual albums with one track in each
or I can rip them with all tracks in one album but without any artist information.
What I want to do is rip all tracks into one album with every individual track listed
along with the artist who has recorded the song.
I'm sure this must be possible but I'm unable to 'crack' it,
Please help as it's driving me mad.
