Title: Starting from the start, watching telly?
Post by: robgil on October 13, 2017, 04:20:35 pm
I have a pretty standard Pc running windows 10, the missus wants to record television. So I need to have something on my Pc that can interact with JRiver and watch and record freeview television? Where do I start? I am UK based.

Best you start in the television forum -

Then you'll need a tuner on your PC so you can plug your aerial in. Most USB ones will work, but many here are using the network tuners - you plug your antenna into one end, and the other end into your router, and you can access TV on any device on the network.

Recommend HDHomerun network tuners.

I have a Connect twin tuner Freeview HD (UK). Wired to my router it works seamlessly with MC and as a bonus can be accessed via ethernet or wifi by any many other items on the network such as android tablet / phone.

I've had tuner cards and usb and this is by far the neatest, best and most flexible option. Works great and not expensive. It sits next to my router and I never give it a thought, it just works when I want it.

So happy with mine, I might just buy another for four tuners.......
