Try running mediacenter21 in a Terminal and post the output/errors here.
-
here is what I get in the terminal:

Hmmm, a segfault. Anyone else encountering this? I'm not on Ubuntu, Debian or Arch.
-
Are you seeing it with the 64-bit version or the 32-bit version? I have one machine where the 64-bit version crashes on launch (but not the 32-bit), but I haven't been able to track down what makes it different than my other machines. If you're on the 64-bit build, could you try the 32-bit build to test whether it works better?
-
I have had a crash on launch that was solved by deleting .jriver , might be worth a try anyway.
-
I tried that. I deleted .jriver. I had to restore licence and backup of library. It worked for 5 minutes (in place of 20 seconds) crashed again, en then crashed in 20 seconds, as before.

I am on 64 bit, it a bit difficult for me to f go on 32 bit, i will try if i can.
-
I installed MC 21.0.61 on a 32 bit machine and it is working fine with Mint 17.3.
I really need it on the 64 bit version. Do you recommend anyway to go back to the former version? a lot of thanks for your answer. :)

There's crash problems with the new Mac build, maybe it's the same issue on Linux too.
Downgrade MC in the meantime.
-
how do I downgrade?
-
Had the same issue after upgrade on Debian Testing (stretch) 64bit. Deleted ~/.jriver and restored key and all is well. I did not attempt to restore existing libraries or anything.
Enhancement request: after new install, the volume in MediaCenter was at max which could be damaging to man and machine. Can the default volume be set at a more moderate setting, say 33%?
EDIT: After building new libraries and operating properly for the remainder of the day and shutting down yesterday, MediaCenter will not start this morning due the the aforementioned segfault.
Rolling back with `apt-get install mediacenter21=21.0.54` does not work.

This will help you guys to downgrade: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=103867.msg722043#msg722043
-
yes, downgrade worked following http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=103867.msg722043#msg722043
Thanks! :) no crash any-more back to 54.

Having the same problem. Running Mint 17.2.
Downgrading to 54 worked.
But no more JRiver logo in the bottom panel!
Any ideas as to how to get that back without causing instability?

Remove all shortcuts (panel/desktop/favorites) then re-add them back. This breaks because the class name was changed in 21.0.61. Once a new build is out you'll need to redo those steps to get the logo icon image working again.
-
now what's next? the system proposes an update to 63. Are the 61 issues corrected? thank you for your answer.
-
You could read the notes that accompany the release. See the thread near the top of this board.

Hi,
Thanks for your help throughout the forum. The icons work fine except for the following: the lower panel. I've attached a picture for clarification.
I tried removing and re-adding but it didn't affect a change.
Looks like the update to 63 pertains to DLNA.. I'll hold off for now.
Thanks,
Brad

Yeah, I had the same issue with my VM. This is caused by a leftover pre .61 launcher somewhere - try launching MC from /usr/share/applications and see if it still does it.
The .63 update fixes the crash issue, so it's very recommended to update to it.

Upgraded. Appears to be working as it should with all icons looking good.
Thanks!
