Title: UPnP Server & LastFM
Post by: rozz3r on December 12, 2007, 11:18:29 am
I'm currently using MC to serve my mp3 collection to a Roku SoundBridge via the UPnP plugin. I'd like to know if it's possible for the LastFM plugin to report songs served via the UPnP server to the Roku, as the Roku does not have this feature itself.

many thanks.

I'm not sure how the LastFM plugin works, but probably not. The UPnP Server does update playcounts and last played times.  How does the LastFM plugin decide what to report?

Hi,
I've been using MC to serve content to my Soundbridge for a while now - great solution.
I also use a program called sbPopper to integrate Soundbridge playing with Last.fm - it works well.  Download sbPopper at (http://www.monkeylicense.com/sbpopper)

Hi Deckard,

Thanks very much! Can you give us more details? How well it integrates with MC's LastFM plugin?

The two solutions work independently, but complement each other.

Basically, when I'm sitting at my computer listening to music through MC - then the MC Last.fm plugin does my scrobbling for me.
Then, when I'm up in my living room, I have MC serve my Soundbridge through UPnP.  The sbPopper (running on same computer as MC) detects when the Soundbridge plays a song and scrobbles it for me.  Works well.

Dekkard - many thanks. sbPopper is working nicely :)

On the downside it does require having two extra processed running (LastFM and sbPopper itself) in addition to Media Centre. It would be nice to see this handled by the LastFM plugin within MC, but I guess it depends how the plugin works, as John says.

Thanks for the heads up.
