Hey all. I've scanned channels using MC15, and whenever I click to watch any of the channels, it pops up a black screen. I know the tuner works, I have verified it using Windows Media Center and WinTV7, and am just clueless where to start.
MC 15.0.174
Windows Vista
Hauppage WinTV-HVR-2250
Thanks in advance,
Adam

While you are playing a channel, right-click in the video window and choose DirectShow Filters > Copy graph info to clipboard. Paste the info here.

The graph is normal. The only thing that may raise a flag is that "MainConcept Video decoder" was loaded as your video decoder. MainConcept decoder has given us quite some troubles. For Hauppauge devices we try to load Hauppauge video decoder (InterVideo video decoder) if it is available. I am guessing you did not install Hauppauge software, so their decoder is not available.
If you can, please try installing the software that comes with the device so Hauppauge decoder can be used. Alternatively, since you have installed FFDShow, you can try enabling MPEG-2 decoding in FFDShow. Hopefully FFDShow will have higher DirectShow merit and it will be loaded instead of MainConcept.

Thanks for the response. I've changed the decoder (at least I think I have) and now video does play (which is the only reason I think I've done it successfully honestly). However, I'm not getting any sound now. I wasn't before the change either, for what it's worth.

For diagnosing purpose, go to Tools > Options > Video. Under "Audio for Video, DVD, & Television", change "Playback Device" setting from "Same as device for audio playback" to "Default Windows playback device". Does that give you sound?
-
Also, if you put it in time-shifting mode (right-click, TV options > Start time-shifting mode), do you get sound?
-
Sorry for the long delay in responding. Your suggestion did work! And then my computer gave me the big middle finger (completely unrelated to this program of course). Finally back up and running, thanks for the help again!
-
Turn on logging, and get a log file of starting a channel, and then starting time-shifting, then email it to me. I may then be able to figure out how to get sound without entering time-shifting mode.
