Title: Booklet art with JRemote?
Post by: dummy on September 15, 2014, 03:18:43 pm
Is there a way to display booklet art on JRemote?

Booklets usually comes in pdf with new purchases and I have a few of those but I mostly have jpegs of booklets that I scanned myself (or got from discogs) in folders for each album that I ripped.

Are we there yet?

If so, how to do It?

Thanks!

Not quite,

I hope we can make this an addition to the MC20 webservice.
It`s just a matter of adding a call that returns the library items that share the same folder as the selected file.

This info can also be displayed in the metadata view.

Will get back to you on progress.

I actually found a way to this this now without any additions needed.
Will implement it as soon as possible.

Thanks a lot Robert!

That would be really great indeed!

I know I can see some booklet/Art in the image section but since nothing is tagged properly, It is all over the place thus almost impossible to find the correct booklet with the actual music.

Also, most of the time, my JRemote crashes when trying to see the images. Is it because I have a 1st gen iPad or because the images are too big or something else...?

Thanks a lot Monsieur.

This functionality is now complete and will be part of the next version. I plan to submit it to the app store today.

The metadata view will now display an "Asset" tab if there are images or pdf files in the same folder as the selected audio file. This tab will show thumbnails of all supporting files and open the pdf viewer or full screen image depending on type when selected.

On the iPad version, there will also appear an icon on the "Now Playing" screen if the current playing file has additional files for quick access.

Remember that all data files like pdf`s need to be imported into JRiver before you see them.
When you configure auto-import, this option is deselected by default, so make sure you check it.

Same for image files, make sure they are actually imported. Images on OSX are not yet supported by JRiver.

Yes, its important that you select images and data on the auto-import configuration.
It`s not selected by default.

In the Mac version I cant seem to find a data option on auto import. If you select to import a single folder the option is there and that's working ok, the assets appear on my iPad. Is auto import data missing? Thanks.

Should be there, Tools > Import > Configure Auto-Import.
Select the folder and click edit.

You should see the dialog below. Is data missing from your view?

The way this works is that JRemote will look for all image and data files in the current folder or subfolders.
Depending on your music directory setup, this may not work 100%.

Is this the problem when you get additional booklets you think?

All my albums are located in seperate folders like,

Doors - album a
Doors - album b
Doors - album c

When I press album a's assets I also see b and c 's booklets.

One specific artist is keith jarrett even if all of his albums are located under different folders I can see all the artwork...

Ok, thank you for reporting. Will do some testing with the way you have your music structured.

The new version of JRemote (version 3.08) is working phantastic for representing lyrics on e.g. an IPad!
A lot of my music files are flac-files. With this file system everything is working fine.
But, I also have several multichannel dsf-files. For such a file system lyrics are not shown. Is that right?

Sorry, I was testing with an "old" IPad. With a modern Apple device (and the correct JRemote version) everything looks great!

Is it possible to make the left-swipe action work (v 3.0.8)whilst one of the booklets is open?

Do you mean the edge playlist on the iPad?
I will take a look and see if it`s possible, but I know it will be a bit tricky.

Yes, Lespaul; to quickly check the playlist whilst reading the pdf booklets, it would be very practical. By the way, it works when another file type is open (eg. Jpg). It just does not work with pdfs.
