Title: Are libraries universal between MC18 and 17?
Post by: Z0001 on November 28, 2012, 06:32:06 pm
I am backing up my library ready to move from 17 to 18 but I would still like to keep 17 running on the same library content for a little while in case of any issues. If I load a MC17 library into 18 and then make library updates in 18 can I do a library back up in 18 and restore the library in 17 for the up todate library created in 18? I don't want to have to manage settings and import all media twice in this overlap period.

What exactly gets saved in a MC17 and MC18 library? Is it just the file tags database or all the settings in Options as well? How about view settings, Gizmo view settings and Theatre View settings, are these saved n either library?

Is the scope of the back up the same in 17 and 18?

Cheers

Backups work the same way, but I don't think you can restore an MC18 library to MC17.  The opposite is possible.  I would advise trying MC18 for a day or two, then switching completely.
