Title: JRemote: Gapless playback
Post by: tseipel on July 14, 2014, 06:29:22 pm
Hello,

Has anyone had problems with gapless playback when streaming music through JRemote? I notice an ever-so-slight bit of stutter between tracks on my live recordings. I have the application set to transcode the source from Uncompressed FLAC to 320 kbps mp3. My signal path is WDC MyCloud EX4 -> Asus RT-AC66U router -> Dell Optiplex 755 (W7 32-bit) with Asus USB-AC53 adapter running MC19.0.146 -> Port 52199 -> JRemote 3.01 (iOS7). I do not have any problem with gapless playback when using the Optiplex 755 as the playback source.

Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Do you get gapless without stutter if you disable transcoding?
There may be some issues getting gapless with MP3 files.

Unfortunately no. I first experienced the stutter with lossless FLAC and switched to transcoded mp3 in hopes of alleviating it.

What kind of iDevice are you using? I am not able to reproduce this stutter myself on any of the devices i use.

BTW, the stutter should not have anything to do with your network. JRemote will start to download he next file a few seconds before the current ends.
