I'm reinstalling, so I have a temporary license, but the program keeps telling me it's invalid. I have the MJR and I choose Restore, and then point to it. What else to do?
-
I'm not sure what a "temporary" license is. If the license file is over 2 weeks old, you'll need to generate (restore) a new one. See: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Purchase_and_License_Recovery (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Purchase_and_License_Recovery)
-
Yep, I'm folllowing the Restore instructions. I sent my code, I received a new MJR, and I saved it to disk. Then I clicked restore in MC and pointed to the file. It tells me it's invalid. I can't double-click on a MJR file. Then it wants to search for a program.
-
Is your license for the same version of MC that you are trying to install?
-
Our wiki has Old Versions (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Old_Versions).
-
The license says in the subject that it's for version 13, and that's the one I'm using.
-
What is the full version of MC?
What OS are you using?
Is the date on your PC correct?
The "Purchase" link above has more information that might help.
-
What is the full version of MC? Latest version of 13. Unfortunately I can't open to tell you.
What OS are you using? Windows 7 Pro
Is the date on your PC correct? Yes
The "Purchase" link above has more information that might help.

I've tried the Restore open over and over with no luck.

Please answer the questions I've asked above.
Try a different browser. IE, for example.
-
I answered them at 6:53, right? It's right after your post. I'm using IE version 9.

... I can't double-click on a MJR file. Then it wants to search for a program.
I think this means that something is not correctly installed. Double-clicking the "Media Center13-xxxxxxx.mjr" file should install the license even when MC is not running. Did you do a standard installation? Have you tried to re-run the MC13 installer using the default install options? Use the final MC13 build from the above link. I wonder if a security program could somehow have intercepted the installation process.
You could also check the contents of the *.mjr file. Open it with Notepad or some other text editor. In any case, DO NOT post your actual license code here, but it should look like this:
JRiver, Inc. Media Center 13
--begin-product-info--
Vendor:JRiver, Inc.
Product:Media Center
Version:13
--end-product-info--
--begin-license--

--end-license--
I replaced my license code with the x-letters.

Yes, that's what my file looks like. But I think it's very possible a security program blocked the install. Maybe I'll try again.
