How do I add a playlist file from one computer to another. I've exported to a file from
one computer but I don't see an import playlist option to add it.

Playlists are imported as part of the regular import. Just make sure the filetype is selected.

Jim:
Which folder selection do I choose to import my playlist.
There's one for my music, my cover art but which one should I choose
for a playlist import.
Thanks,
Skylar

The one where you keep your playlists.

Under what directory does a playlist import go. When you create one it doesn't say
where its going to be kept, it just creates it. So I need to know the correct directory
to put my imported playlist to.
Thanks,

Just put your exported playlists into any folder and make sure that folder is included in your Auto-Import Folders. Then they will show up in MC under "Imported Playlists" in the playlist tree.

I had the same problem and tried that. However I'm a DJ and have my hundreds of hundreds of playlists all organized hierarchically (in nested folders). They get exported that way too, which is great. But when I import, they are all flattened out!
Am I missing something? How can I import the exported playlists and retain the nested folders structure?
Thanks,
Jeff

if the files already are in the system/database the playlist does not get imported (or is blank) , anyway that is how it works with .mpl files and i guess for other format as well..
edit: remember now, when i converted to MC 13, i tried to import the playlists (m3u) manually but they were blanked
i had to remove the files and force import (import playlist)

this is maybe a good occasion to bring up the following:
i do a lot of (auto) imports of .mpl files with a lot of data in them...but this only works for new files, if i have changes in the fields MC refuses to grab them..and i have to force "import"..i would be a very happy man if MC also detected changes in the mpl files :)

The playlists and files will be listed inside the imported playlists tree branch if the file paths inside the lists are valid. You can use relative paths if preferred.
MPL is a special case. As a safety measure MC does not alter file data when the listed files already exist in the database and Auto-Import imports MPL files. I think the developers were afraid that old MPL files on the disk could accidentally revert library changes if the MPL files are inside a newly added import path or detected as changed for some reason.
The only way to update existing library data by MPL is to use the File > Import Playlist tool.

but then you just untick .mpl in autoimport settings...
Alex, it would be so nice if i could let go of the "/silentimport" and use the normal auto import for files that don't have the possibilty to have tags written to them.
