Hello
I love MC and use it in carputer and home. I have 70,000 files+ now and MC is acting sluggish when editing properties. For example, rename, cut, tab from name to artist, there is a pause 2-3 seconds, while "loading panes", then another while "saving tag changes". I have a P4. Have I reached a limit here in number of files? Is there any fix?
thank you

It's not a limit for the number of files. Have you added any new view schemes? Or changed the disk configuration in any way? Virus checker?
-
aah
yes, thank you. i have added a virus checker, McAfee
i should remove it to free resources?
-
Try uninstalling it. Disabling it may not be enough.

Mcafee and Norton are both resource hogs, i use the free edition of AVG anti-virus, it works great and uses very little resources.
Find it here: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

It tends to get that way when you have a large amount of files.
I have over 300,000 in one of my library's, it is very sluggish when editing tags. it is not the tag saving it's self it is mc trying to update the screen or other it is doing other things with the database.
MC12 is a bit better when dealing with large library's

Thank you very much.
I eliminated the virus program (it was free from Comcast anyway)...those "security"suites are scams, I think.
Tagging is much faster now, sometimes more than others still.
Wow 300k files -- i thought I was obsessive, are you a fan of a certrain genre, or a competist for certain bands or what? With me it's surf/instro -- i'm trying to get everything (3 starrs+) reviewed on reverbcentral.com
thanks again
