MC26 will now treat composer views independently for cover art.
The artwork will be stored in a Composers folder (next to the Artists folder).
We also added a Google lookup tool for the composer image.
Instructions
To find composer artwork, select files, right-click, and pick Cover Art > Get Composer Images From Google...
To make a composer view so you can see the artwork, pick "Add Library View...". Select Albums. Then pick Customize View... and switch the album to composer.
Enjoy :)

Thank you! That could be very useful indeed.

Could this be extended to Actors / directors?
-
This is great Matt - thanks
Could this be extended to Actors / directors?
I wondered about this too... Perhaps an aggregated approach to any 'Artist'/'Performer' field?
Music... there are a bunch of these - Artist, Composer, Arranger, Featuring, Conductor, Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Soloists, Vocals, Original Artist, Lyricist
Movies... Actors, Director, Producer, Screenwriter
Would it make sense, instead of having separate directories for Artist & Composer (or any other artist-type fields you might consider adding), that all of these shared the same 'Artist' coverart folder and just use this for any of the above fields, that essentially all represent different 'Artists'?
-
many thanks for that :-)
-
Excellent !!
-
Directors / actors would be cool
Also, i see the composer images in Standard views but not in Theater View. Are you planning on adding them to Theater View too?

A coming build of MC26 will treat composer views independently for cover art.

Perhaps a silly question, but what does one have to do to make use of this new feature? I searched in Tools > Options and didn't see anything that had to be enabled. Is there a new right-click option for albums or tracks that I should be looking for?
Thanks!
Matt

Ah, thanks.
What should then result? I've tried the above on albums that I know have the Composer tag set, but didn't really observe anything different. (I opened the filesystem location for both albums and didn't see any new files or new sub-directory.)
Sorry for the noob questions!

The new images only appear in a composer view. So start there then try. I just tried at home and it worked great.

Is there a reason that this doesn't get saved in the Recent Right Click list?

I noticed that too. I can check Monday.

Ok, one other tidbit needed then... Could you explain what you mean by a "composer view"?
I don't see such a classical-music themed option available under "Add Library View...". There, just the usual suspects show up as choices -- 3D Albums, Albums, Artists, Disk Location, etc.
In JRMC25, I had a custom Audio view that I had named "Composers", which was a Panes view restricted (based upon filesystem starting path) to point to just a subset of my collection. All files there are tagged with Composer (which also corresponds to their parent directory name). Prior to upgrading to JRMC26, I renamed that view to be "Classical", just in case there happened to now be a Composer default library view that was added in 26.
Thanks again for the explanation, Matt, and for the new features in 26 (as soon as I figure out how to use them... ;D)

Perhaps this is a Theater View item...
I do see a Composers view there. (I almost never switch to that view, so I'm not that familiar with interacting with MC there.)
-
You can take an artist view end replace artist to composer in the field settings, that will work.
-
This is nice, but sometimes the image returned by Google is incorrect. I believe the only way to fix this right now is to go to the Composers folder and delete the image. An option to confirm the image before saving would help.
-
I do not use google. I search it by myself and save it in composers folder.
-
I don't see that option when in my context menu ... is there something I need to do to enable it? (MC 26)
-
sorry only in german version:
Options->Speicherorte->Albumcover->Ordner
you can define the folder you want for this
