Hi Jim, can’t believe I missed this one. We need to get back into our pre-Covid lunches here in Minneapolis.

Anyway, you’ve been around the block a few times,  understand business well, and aren’t motivated by money above all else. I believe this will all turn out well for everyone.

There are things that MC does that no other app does. Period. Plus, the fact that it doesn’t track my every move and report back to the mothership is a godsend.

I have some ideas for the future, but need to collect the thoughts before posting. I’m more of a measure twice cut once guy with this stuff.

I'm saying that a delta requires MC to be absolutely bullet proof in adding and removing it otherwise it's going to end badly

Hey Jürgen,
I like your idea with the beat range playlist. I might try that for running.
With JRemote on your phone you could skip the sync part and stream your playlist directly from your Media PC, or from wherever MC is running. You'd need a decent cell signal, though.
Should JRemote not be a solution for you, you could just import the audio files from your playlist into Apple Music and play them from there on your phone, although that doesn't sound like an elegant way.
Good luck!
Hans

I thought you might say that. I'd been looking at the way VL C handles HDR and it's the same model. I'd looked at Windows HDR a while back and it looked terrible. I'd tried switching it on this morning, and it does work. Without fiddling the desktop looks terrible, but if that's the way everyone is going, I'll have a play. Thanks for the info

You can always have a default DSP preset for when there's none specified.
It's up to the user to adjust the base/Delta to suit their needs, it's not a mandatory feature.

sounds dangerous as a delta without a cast iron guarantee of the base is a recipe for disaster

I recall asking for a similar feature in the past for much the same reasons (combinatorial explosion in the no of presets to manage)

the way DSP config is stored internally is certainly amenable to this approach

Right-aligned numbers is the norm, Marko just needs a new brain  ;D
An advanced setting (left|center|right) is great, but I would leave the default as is.

A per-Field setting in the "Edit Field" UI would also work. As long as the default doesn't suddenly change, then I think both options are fine and don't add much clutter.

A little more explanation is in order:

When I mapped MC Genre to IPTC/XMP IntellectualGenre tag, I was presented with the dilemma of following the IPTC standard with a controlled vocabulary list of NewsCodes, and allowing users to enter free-text into the field.  I decided to take a hybrid approach, by allowing users to enter free text, but also presenting a list of text from IPTC NewsCode.  With this approach, we can satisfy the need of both worlds.

If the overwhelming sentiment is that we should just ignore the Controlled Vocabulary and use only free-text for Genre field, I am open to change it.

Maybe add a new type of "delta" preset that only specifies some of the settings? Then several Deltas could be applied on top of a [mandatory] base preset.

This would pretty much require that all DSP settings have a checkbox for "no change" :-/

To flesh it out a bit more: Delta presets could be specified in an additional [Audio DSP Delta] field. When a track starts the specified preset(s) would be applied; when it stops DSP reverts to the base/default preset, ready for the next track.

Sorry to be a bit late getting round to testing this version but I've been having fun and games this past couple of weeks with Apple's let's disable accessing finder from the Dock Betas, they managed to release 2 damaged beta's in the last couple of weeks.

The pre-release beta for 14.5 is now out and thankfully Apple appear to have avoided doing any damage to MC32 with it.

The Top/Bottom Toolbar Clock is now most definitely showing the Time in 24 Hour Format.

As for some of the other changes, and some other things I tried, have given mixed results.

Yesterday (Sunday) I was playing around with the Screen Size and rapidly learned not to switch on the View menu "Retina Mode" Option.
Unlike with the MC Size Option, where the Text and Images get resized, Retina Mode is only resizing the Text (BADLY)
Image 1 in the gallery is the screen at 100%, Image 2 is the same sized screen with Retina Mode turned on, Image 3 is a non-retina mode screen at 125%.

Today I've been having fun switching MC between "View Modes".

Starting from Standard View with the MC Window sandwiched between the Apple Menu Bar and Dock - when I switched to Display View it opened with the Apple menubar still in place but the MC window was taller, the bottom of it was behind the Dock (Image 4).

Even though Image 4 doesn't show it when it opened the "DropDown" player window was showing briefly, so Decided to go on a MC in Display View on Windows fishing trip;
when I moved the mouse to the left, right and bottom edges of the MC Window the DropDown player window dropped into place, but waht was nice is the "Target Area" for the top of the screen is the Depth of the DropDowm player window making it easy to get it onto the screen and press the buttons. So I pressed the Green/Resize button which "Locked" the playerbar into the Window (Image 5) Unfortunately MC32 on the Mac is not recording the Changed State of the Display View Window on exit, if the user exits Display View and the re-enters it the original variant of Display View is the one that gets opened.

I'm not sure when this change happened but the TrackInfo Plugins are no longer "hogging the limelight" and sitting on top of things like "Album" view, but it is still present in Mini-View (Image 6)

I don't know how I got to thsi situation but at one point when I switched to Display View it opened FullScreen (Image 7) and the only way to get out of it was to use cmd+1 as no matter where i moved the mouse to dropdowm player window never appeared, nor did MC do it's old trick of scooting the main MC window to the right to reveal the player window.
Unfortunately when MC went back to Standard View the Dock had gone walkabout (Image 8) - thankfully fishing around at he bottom of the screen brought the dock up for long enough to go into settings and telling the OS to Switch Autohide the Dock On then Off got the dock to remain where I wanted it.

Image 8, its the Apple About Screen/Window, had me confused/amused I was playing my music via HDMI to my 7.1.4 Soundbar, which is also connected to my TV vi a Toslink Cable, how come the OS can detect the TV Screen when the thing was switched off? The Win PC can't even though it is also connected to the same Soundbar via HDMI.

Image 9 was taken after I'd restarted MC and reveals I'm still encountering that MC not AutoScolling down to the Track being Played when it is not present when that track is not visible in the track list.

Bob I agree with you the option to "Detach Display" should be removed from the Mac Version.
Image 10 shows what happened after I detached the one in the Tree that was set to "Display Cover Art when Small" I tried every trick I know to see if I could find the thing and couldn't.
Image 11 shows how cranky the "Detached Tree Display Panel" can be, that one was set to display the TI. Image 12 reveals that the re-attach option works, whilst Image 13 is me Detaching the Standard View "Display Window"

Image 14 revealed what happened when I clicked on the Green/Resize Button in standard view, whilst the MC Window appears to have gone to full screen height it looks like the MC Menu/Topbar has either vanished or is hidden behind the Apple menu bar. But that was not the only problem, the mouse pointer also vanished, the MC Window and the TI was reacting to me moving the mouse around, I could even use the scroll wheel to scroll the track list.
I finally did get the Right-Click menu to put in an appearance and used it to switch to Display Mode. But as Image 15 reveals it opened Display View in the new "Display Mode with the player window/bar locked in place.

Image 16 is the result of me searching thru the various menus to see how often the "Detach Display" option was present - that View Menu certainly looks like it is "Over Engineered"

Now for some "good news" I'm not sure if this is down to the OS but today I noticed that MC32 was accessing the M2 disc the tracks it was playing are held on a lot less that it had in the past
