Title: Gateley's Webcam
Post by: KingSparta on November 21, 2007, 12:55:07 pm
There has been a Music server in MJ and MC as long as I have been around, Tivo, pod-casting, Tv support, but no webcam support.

The Other Day I Bought A New Logitech Pilot AF Webcam, And Have Been Looking For Some Decent Software To Play With.

I also looked for the Logitech SDK for there webcams (they no longer supply information or a SDK, per some information i have read).

I Did Find A Program Called "AbleCam", At First it did not work correctly with the new webcam but i contacted the programer, and worked with him to get the webcam to work with The Newer version of the webcam.

It has Many features including a webcam streaming server, Built in chat, ftp upload, etc...

It also has a follow movement option, or you can direct the webcam thru the software or via a html page.

With All the People Who Use Webcams I Am Not sure why this would not be a option.

WebCam Your Podcasts, Your Music Parties etc...

It's a very interesting program.

One of my not so good ideas: poolcam.org, watch me play pool in my basement. Actually, I was thinking about having pool halls set up web cams and then customers could go to this site, see how busy they were or if their friends were there, but it never took off.

What's the URL of yours, King?

Not really streaming, all the time, just more playing with it.

Tomorrow I am going to test it out from work to see how it is doing long distant, and not just from my wife's computer a few feet away.
