Walked into the local HMV store the other day and couldn't help noticing there seems to be plenty more Blu-ray in there than HD-DVD - both more titles, and more stock. I seem to have received a few (about 8.) Blu-ray titles in my xmas stocking as well.... even though I haven't yet invested in a player. I guess the jury's still out but anyone seeing any other trends? I'm quite eager now for this HD farce to end.

I've been a believer all along in the Blu-Ray. I think the PlayStation 3 is one of the drivers that is helping make this a legitimate platform for high def. I purchased a Blu-ray player about a year back and recently upgraded my PC, which now includes a Blu-ray DVD.

Yep I guess I'm going to take the plunge now - the players have come down by around 50% as have the discs, so the risk has got down to level I'm comfortable with.

I think you will be happy with it.

Most definitely. Warner have announced they are going exclusive to Blu-ray, so it looks like the right choice.

... Warner have announced they are going exclusive to Blu-ray ...
Here's a New York Times article (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/05/technology/05disc.html?ref=media) that I was just reading.

Been looking round the main AV forums the past couple of days - it seems like there's a lot of upset people out there. Surely they were aware of the risks? Anyway, most of the forums are absolutely taken over with people sniping, mostly with no rationale, over the formats... glad it didn't spill over here. Didn't realise until now what an emotive issue it was.
Bought an Sony BDP-S300 in the end cos it was cheap and you get a bunch of free discs with it. Nice machine, but blimey it takes its time powering on!
It's only profile 1.0 but it does what I want. Internet connection and picture-in-picture doesn't interest me right now, maybe never.
