Title: Gizmo and chromecast for android
Post by: nuvira on June 11, 2017, 07:37:13 pm
Is Gizmo with Chromecast still working with MC21 ? I have many issues with Android version of Gizmo and Chrome-cast. For an example, after play first song, Gizmo hang and stop casting, next song never play back automatically. ?
BY the way, do you have new android version of Gizmo ? I still have 2015 version.

I'm having the same issue. I can connect to a chromecast (in my case a group of chromeast) from Gizmo and it starts up fine, but after the first song plays JRiver/Gizmo gets hung up and there's a long silence, sometimes a song down the list plays, skipping several songs, sometimes it doesn't. It takes a while though. Any fix?

JimH,

Is there a thread I am missing on MC integration with Google Home? I have read about the new skill for Alexa extensively, but I am much more interested in Google Home as an Android user.

No. Sorry.

I guess my next question is what are the JRiver developers doing to integrate MC into the Google Home platform? It seems to me that Google Home and Amazon Alexa are two formats battling it out much like VHS and Betamax back in the 80's. I think Google has an edge due to the mobile phone and tablet platform plus the presents Google has on the internet.

It seems to me that if JRiver wants to continue to be relevant, it must embrace these two very popular home automation platforms. I see this effort (somewhat) on the Alexa platform with the development of the House Band skill, but I am not seeing the effort on the Google platform. What am I missing?

Well, it's worth pointing out that House Band for Alexa is actually developed by a third-party developer (sarkonovich) and not by the JRiver developers themselves.

Any willing developer could just develop some sort of integration for MC and Google Home and release it if they wanted to. Sarkonovich also recently posted that he actually looked into developing a Google Home version and got a good ways with it, but due to having little time is focusing on Alexa instead (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,102709.msg785913.html#msg785913).
